It’s the week of your wedding, and there’s so much to do! But first, beauty! We’re talking hair, nails, brows, and more. So break out that wedding checklist and add a few simple tips we’ve listed below to have you shining on your big day and glowing for all of the special moments to come.
Stay Hydrated
With the one-week countdown in motion, now is the time to treat your body right. Drink plenty of water, and make sure to keep your diet clean this week to avoid any unnecessary inflammation. By staying hydrated inside and out, your skin will look its best, so don’t skip the moisturizer this week either!
Rest Well
We know you have a lot on your mind this week, but getting enough sleep is a major key to looking fresh and beautiful. Try to maintain a sleep schedule this week that is close to your norm – whether that’s six or seven hours of shut-eye or if you can squeeze in a few extra – it will all be for the better good.
Must-Have Mani-Pedi
For the big day, you also will want to make sure your hands and toes are looking their best. This tip is most likely already on your must-have beauty list, but it’s important to note to have your nail colors for the wedding finalized in advance. If you change your mind at the salon, that’s okay! But having an idea of the shade of color is best. Schedule your final mani-pedi appointment for a day or two before you say ‘I do’ so they stay fresh and flawless.
Prep Your Skin
During those final few days before your wedding, get your skin in the best shape ever! In addition to drinking plenty of water, there are a few other at-home tricks you can do. For example, boost your skin brightness with a gentle vitamin C mask or natural clay mask. Just be sure to avoid any chemical peels or new products that you’ve never tried before. The last thing that you want is to react to a product this week!
One week before your wedding is also a good time for final waxing appointments or tanning (if that’s your thing). Be sure to exfoliate throughout the week leading up to these appointments so your skin stays silky smooth. If you opt for a spray tan, make sure to use a color or level of tan that you’ve tried before so there are no surprises!
The Hair
While you may have already had your final hair appointment before the wedding, there’s still a chance for last-minute root coverage or a quick trim if you have bangs. If you’re going to a final color appointment this week, stick with a color you know will work or you wear all the time. Subtle highlights can also be a great addition but make sure to have them done by a stylist you trust. For added shine, try a deep conditioning treatment or hair gloss treatment that you can have done at the salon or at home!
The Face
For your face, you want to go extra gentle during the week of your wedding. This means don’t try any new products, and again, avoid any ingredients that can cause skin sensitivity like retinol or salicylic acid. If you opt for a facial, make sure it’s one or even two weeks before the wedding – and let the esthetician know to not do anything too harsh or invasive. If you’re planning to have Botox treatments before the big day, schedule your final appointment at least one week before the event. The week of your wedding is also the best time for any final brow shaping or tweezing.
The Smile
For a glowing smile on the day of your wedding, the best thing you can do is maintain a healthy routine for months/years in advance. During the week of your wedding, try to avoid food and drinks that dull or stain your teeth. If you’ve tried them before, consider using an at-home teeth whitening treatment to boost the whiteness of your smile.
The Dress
If you haven’t already, try on your dress one last time, but this time add the shoes, jewelry, and any accessories that you plan to wear. Then just hang out for a little bit! Make sure everything stays in place when you move around, and most importantly, make sure you are comfortable. This is a great opportunity for a final look before the big day. Maybe even keep your wedding shoes on throughout the day to break them in!
Clean Your Jewelry
If necessary, clean your jewelry with a jewelry cleaner solution and a gentle brush, or take them to a jeweler to have them professionally cleaned. Avoid any lotions or soaps that could dull their shine the week of your wedding. You will not regret having this extra sparkle in your wedding photos!
Pack a Beauty Emergency Kit
Your beauty emergency kit might come in handy when you least expect it – so getting a few items together ahead of time is a good idea. A few examples of what to pack include extra makeup, blotting paper, hairspray, bobby pins, deodorant, clear nail polish, safety pins, a travel sewing kit, nail file, tampons, aspirin, mints, and perfume. Check out our full list of wedding day necessities here!
Pack a Wedding Day Bag
In addition to that beauty emergency kit, don’t forget to pack any other items you might need on your wedding day or the following day, such as extra clothes, lingerie, pajamas, toiletries, and anything else you’d typically bring on a weekend getaway!
Take It All In
This week is going to feel like a whirlwind, but don’t forget to take a step back and take it all in! Go to a yoga class, hit the spa for a massage, or just sit back with a cup of coffee and appreciate these moments.
You are all ready for your big day! You’ve put in the work, and now it’s time to sit back and enjoy. Get ready to be glammed by your hair and makeup team. (Don’t forget to show up with clean hair and a fresh face!) And get ready to glow as you walk down the aisle! Cheers to the best day ever.
